WhatsApp might soon get an option to edit messages

You may no longer need to retype

WhatsApp recently rolled out a feature allowing users to react to messages with emojis – similar to its Meta counterparts Facebook and Instagram. Now there seems to be another helpful on its way.

WhatsApp is currently beta testing a feature that will let users edit messages after they are sent. It would enable users to correct mistakes such as spelling errors in their messages, without completely deleting them from the chat and the hassle of  writing a fresh text message.

As per WABetaInfo, this option would appear alongside the existing Info and Copy options that surface once you long-press a text message on the app. By selecting Edit from the pop-up menu, you would be able to edit the text.

It is still unclear whether the recipient will come to know whether the message they are reading is edited. It is also unknown whether users will get the ability to look at the edit history of a message to check its previous versions.

Additionally, WhatsApp is also said to have started working on different skin tones for message reactions. These new additions are currently a part of the latest WhatsApp for Android beta version, and are currently only available to some beta testers.
