WWDC 2022 on June 6: What to expect from Apple’s annual event

Software updates incoming and maybe some new hardware too

It’s that time of the year again when Apple gears up to host its annual Worldwide Developer Conference or WWDC. This year, the event is set to take place between June 6-10, and everything will kick off with Tim Cook’s keynote address on day one.
While it seems like we’re on the last leg of the pandemic, its impact is still being felt. And just like the previous couple of years, the upcoming WWDC 2022 too will be a virtual event.

What to expect from WWDC 2022?

Though WWDC is primarily aimed at developers and students, it’s also important for others as it is the first time we get a glimpse at Apple’s upcoming software upgrades. This year too we expect a teaser for iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, tvOS 16, and macOS 13, before they are widely rolled out around September.
Though the primary focus is on software, we won’t put it past Apple to show off some new hardware at the event. Reports are rife that the Cupertino-based giant is all but ready to unveil the long-rumoured mixed reality (MR) headset. This device is likely to offer the best of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), and could cost as much as $2,000 (approx ₹1,51,000).
If Apple’s really in the mood, it could also announce the next-gen Mac Pro powered by the high-end M1 Ultra silicon. This chip was unveiled earlier this year along with the Mac Studio and the Studio Display.
