‘Made by Google’ to take place on August 13: Here’s what to expect

The rumour mill is churning overtime!

Google's brewing a pot of Pixel surprises for their ‘Made by Google’ event on August 13. The confirmed Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro are joined by the foldable Pixel 9 Pro Fold for a phone fiesta. Google might also have some secret ingredients bubbling away, with rumours of Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2. The event is scheduled at 10 AM PT (10.30 PM IST).

What to expect: Pixel 9 series

This year's Pixel lineup is shaping up to be an evolution, with Google introducing the foldable Pixel Fold alongside the familiar Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. While details are still emerging, leaks suggest a consistent design language across all three models, with the signature camera bump on the back. The Pixel 9 might differentiate itself with a dual-camera system, while the Pro models are rumoured to feature a triple-lens setup, likely including ultra-wide and telephoto capabilities.

Under the hood, all three devices are expected to share the same DNA – a next-generation Tensor G4 processor, likely paired with at least 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. While past Tensor chips haven't always competed on raw power, the G4 might be a game-changer. Screen sizes seem to cater to different preferences, with the Pixel 9 offering a compact 6.1-inch 1080p display, and the Pixel 9 Pro going big with a 6.7-inch 2K resolution screen. The foldable Pixel 9 Pro Fold adds another layer of intrigue with a rumoured 120Hz cover display and a large foldable screen on the inside.

Google's continued focus on AI-powered camera features is another exciting factor to witness. For reference, at its I/O Connect event in Bengaluru Google revealed the Pixel 9 series will leverage the power of Google's Gemini AI model. This on-device, generative AI capability utilises multimodality, a first for Pixel smartphones, and makes Android 15 with a built-in Gemini model a reality. The recently released fourth beta of Android 15 paves the way for a final, stable release expected soon, bringing this innovation not just to the Pixel 9 lineup but also to previous Pixel devices.

With the official reveal coming on August 13th, we'll soon have the full picture of what the Pixel 9 series has to offer, powered by the next generation of mobile AI.

Google Pixel Watch 3

There is also hope for Pixel Watch 3's potential arrival at the Made by Google event. Leaks suggest it might come in two sizes – a svelte 41mm option and a larger 45mm variant. But the real showstopper could be the display, expected to be featuring 2,000 nits – twice as bright as its predecessor! New features like gesture controls and ultra-wideband support are also swirling in the rumour vortex. While the processor might stay put, whispers of extended battery life and enhanced fitness tracking have us intrigued. The whole package is expected to be powered by the latest Wear OS 5.

Pixel Buds Pro 2

Google's keeping tight-lipped about the Pixel Buds Pro 2, but rumours are buzzing about a potential launch alongside the Pixel Watch 3. Leaks suggest the charging case might pack a 650mAh battery, potentially translating to 31 hours of listening time for the earbuds themselves (minus noise cancellation). The case itself might also shed the wires and go fully wireless for added convenience.
